Keeping ToDesktop Applications Updated and Secure

ToDesktop Builder uses Electron internally to create cross-platform desktop applications. This means that updates to ToDesktop Builder will also include updates to the internal Electron and Chromium version. These electron releases occur every 8 weeks and often contain important security and feature enhancements.

At ToDesktop, we do our best to keep up-to-date with the latest versions of Electron and try to release a new version of ToDesktop Builder shortly after Electron has released a new version. We prioritise updates where security issues have been fixed. If you wish to release your app with the latest versions of ToDesktop Builder, Electron and Chromium then you will need to release a new version of your app from an updated version of ToDesktop Builder. You can check out our changelog to see what has changed.

As a user of ToDesktop Builder, all of this work is done for you in the background. This is because ToDesktop Builder uses the same auto-update mechanisms as the apps that we publish. When a new version has been downloaded, you'll simply receive an auto-update prompt to restart your application.
